Life after lessons

Life at Kneller Hall

At Kneller Hall Junior, education is enriched by the opportunities pupils enjoy throughout school life. Our co-curricular programme
encourages every child to discover new interests, develop their talents and make the most of the opportunities available to them.

Learning expands beyond the core academic subjects at Kneller Hall Junior School. In addition to our excellent co-curricular subjects, our club programme runs throughout the week, with opportunities before school, at lunchtime and after lessons. Clubs reflect the interests and curiosity of our pupils and change throughout the year. From creative projects to sport, music and technology, children are encouraged to try new things, develop their talents and enjoy time with friends. The residential programme for Year 3 – Year 6 is also a highlight for many of our pupils.

LIFE AT KNELLER HALL

Sport, stage and more

Creativity has an important place in life at Kneller Hall Junior. From arts and crafts and comic book club to musical theatre, choir and film academy, pupils are encouraged to explore their talents, develop their skills and take pride in what they create. Whether performing, designing or bringing stories to life, each experience offers the opportunity to grow in confidence and discover new possibilities.

Pupils are encouraged to think creatively, experiment and find solutions through our STEAM-focused clubs. From coding and science club to hands-on technology activities, they develop practical skills, tackle challenges and bring ideas to life, building confidence in their ability to question, design and innovate.

Sport is an important part of school life, with clubs including football, netball, dodgeball and archery. These activities give pupils the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence and discover the value of teamwork, determination and good sportsmanship.

From sewing and design to cookery, Lego and puzzle club, pupils are encouraged to develop practical abilities and pursue new interests. Touch typing builds valuable digital skills, while mindfulness offers time for reflection and self-awareness. Each activity broadens pupils’ experience, nurtures independence and gives them the confidence to develop skills of their own.

Supporting local charities

At Kneller Hall Junior School, we believe that schools should play an active role within their local community. Through partnerships, charitable work and shared initiatives, we encourage pupils to develop empathy, awareness and a sense of responsibility beyond the classroom.

Our main charity is Skylarks, which supports children with additional needs and their families. Through this partnership, pupils learn about inclusion, kindness and the importance of supporting others within the community. Throughout the year, we also support SPEAR, a homelessness charity, and Good Neighbours Richmond, through our work with a local care home.

Our charity initiatives include bake sales, a sponsored whole school walk, foodbank collections, a morning of carols and choir visits. Working with organisations such as Skylarks allows our pupils to understand how small actions can make a meaningful difference. These experiences help children develop compassion and a wider awareness of the world around them.
